My History
Hi! My name is Stefan Simanton and I am a music teacher based in Camas, WA. I have been teaching both privately as well as at several music lesson studios in the Portland/Vancouver area for nearly a decade. I offer customized lessons to students on Voice, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Ukulele and occasionally Drums. I also have worked with students to develop their knowledge of music theory and audio recording.
My Philosophy
I strongly believe that every student is different, and that each one needs an individualized lesson plan. I have a core focus that learning music my students are interested in personally is incredibly important, and I emphasize that instead of exercises and lesson books. My goal is to help nurture a lifelong love of music in my students, and for them to continue to learn and pursue that after they have grown up and moved on to bigger and better things!
My Facilities
I have a studio in my home with everything needed to teach the various instruments I offer lessons for (voice, guitar, piano, bass, ukulele and drums). Parents and siblings are also more than welcome to wait in my living room. I also have availibility for online lessons and many of my students trade off between online and in person. If you are within a 20 minute drive, I am also happy to teach lessons in your own home!
About Me
I am a vocalist and multi Instrumentalist and I write and compose music as well. Currently I am an alternate with the Portland Opera Chorus and sing in a local A Cappella group called Kaleidosound. I graduated from Southwestern University with a BFA in Music Education and am certified to teach in both Texas and Oregon. My Wife Alison is also an incredibly talented flautist and has some availibility to teach flute lessons as well!
